A couple weeks ago in March of 2012, two male college students (one from University of Cincinnati and one from Miami University) were walking home from a drag show in Miami, Ohio. As they held hands walking through the night, they heard gay slurs yelled at them right before they were attacked by four men. If it wasn’t for the brave bystanders who intervened very quickly, the students could have been severely injured. However, just because the two young men were not fatally wounded does not make this okay. It is time for people to realize that hate is not acceptable in the world today and is becoming extremely unpopular. People that are hated are not the ones causing the problem, but it is the ones who hate that need to look deep inside themselves to reevaluate their position in life. It is often one’s own insecurities that drive the hate that they exert. UC and MU had supportive rallies very soon after the crime was committed to express that intolerance will not be tolerated at these campuses. If you look closely at the picture, you may recognize someone familiar ;)
